The Biotherium offers support to the researchers by providing live animals to work with as biological reagents for their investigations. It has strains of BALB/c and CD1 mice; proper facilities to maintain mice, rats, rabbits, and aquatic (marine and fresh water) species in confinement in small scale; and possibility of adapting areas for other experimental species.

With respect to facilities the Biotherium has:

• Office
• Broodstock room for rodents;
• Rodent breeding production;
• Experimental room in sterile conditions;
• Experimental room in non-sterile conditions;
• Three areas for marine species with controlled air, and fresh and marine water supply;
• Rabbit farm;
  
• Food warehouse;
  
• External dressing room;
  
• Shower;
• Internal dressing room;
  
• Washing area for material;
• Washing, food sterilizing, bed, and clothes area
