Diving and Fleet - Staff - Marine Biologist and Master of Science. He joined the CIBNOR group of pearl oyster researchers in 1993 performing collection studies in the natural environment; he has participated in more than 20 research projects, most of them focusing on culture and ecology of pearl oysters, but also on cryptic fish ecology and impact on coral reefs. He has collaborated in 8 scientific publications, 1 internal handbook for technology transfer, 5 congresses, and 2 conferences. He has the degree of "Specialty Diver" with courses on stress, rescue, and deep sea diving. He has supported human resource development with national and foreign students in bachelor, graduate studies, social service, and professional service levels. He is currently a specialty diver in assessment of mollusks associated to coral reefs. Professional technician in Aquaculture, specialized in diving. He joined CIB since 1990, and is currently the responsible technician for diving equipment and coordinator of field activities. He has collaborated in different research and environmental assessment projects and collaborated with several students in thesis writing from bachelor, master's, and doctoral levels. He is coauthor of 3 scientific publications, and has taken several diving courses, survival at sea, first aid, and oxygen delivery in diving accidents. He currently has the degree of DiveCon (Dive Control Specialist), first professional level that enables him to plan and guide immersions, teach snorkeling with the capability of updating certified divers. He is also a teaching assistant for Open Water Diver courses under the direct supervision of a certified SSI instructor.
Mario Cota Castro Associated Technician "A". He joined CIBNOR in 1978 performing work first as support technician, both in laboratories and in field. He was responsible for CIB fleet for 16 years, which has allowed him to collaborate in very diverse ecological and environmental assessment projects, such as the study for the construction of the central electricity station
Petacalco in Michoacán, rescue of a coral reef, marking pelagic fish, and several studies on populations of varied species in the islands of the coast of BCS just to name some. With his work he has supported the work of students in their bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. He is currently field technician, captain of the fleet, and in charge of fleet maintenance within the area. Professional technician in Aquaculture. He collaborated professionally in several research and impact assessment projects, in 8 courses, and in 2 congresses with institutions such as CICIMAR CRIP, UABCS, and UNAM since 1991. In 1999 he joined CIBNOR and has been responsible for the laboratories of marine raft, supralittoral ponds, and culture patio. He is currently a technician assigned to the area of aquaculture experimental laboratories in subaquatic farm and vessels. He has also performed works as open water diver, captain of smaller vessels, and has offered support to field activities.
