Services offered in the Information Center
Lbrary loan. Provides different materials to Information Center users in situ. The center has open shelves and offers the service to the public in general. Checkout loan. Different materials can be checked out of the Information Center. This service is offered to internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff). Photocopying.Offered to the public in general from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Works on reserve. This service is offered to CIBNOR’s academic staff and students. Requests may be submitted to reserve materials used in postgraduate courses. Works are available in open shelves. Interlibrary loan. Offered to obtain material not found in own resources but found in other libraries. Users can show their interlibrary loan ID and personally request a loan in some of the libraries in La Paz: Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas (CICIMAR), Centro Regional de Investigación Pesquera (CRIP-LA PAZ) and Promotora Industrial Acuasistemas (PIASA). Offered to internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff) Consultancy and orientation in library services and information search. Gives the necessary information to make use of the services and resources in the Information Center. Offered to the public in general. Electronic catalog reference. Allows consulting, electronically and simultaneously, information on resources in the Information Center. Offered to the public in general. Database in CD-ROM reference. Allows information search on different topics mainly in the sciences. Most of these CD-ROMs are included in some books and others are bibliographical database. Offered to the public in general. Library loan on site. Bibliographical alert. Provides uptodate information of published articles in users’ interests following a searching strategy. The information is delivered monthly via electronic mail. Only for internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff). Online database acces. Consulting more than 600 world databases through Internet. For internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff). Obtaining documents. Documents are requested from different libraries and institutions with interlibrary agreements in the country and abroad or with those that charge to provide this service. The Center has a postal office box, fax, and ARIEL system (archive transmission system via Inernet) to send and receive electronic documents. Offered to internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff) and to institutions with this agreement. Cites analysis (Science Citation Index). Obtaining from the database Science Citation Index cites from published works by internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff). Electronic access to table of contents and complete texts of periodical publications received in the Information Center. internal CIBNOR users (researchers, technicians, students, and administrative staff) can consult in the Information Center´s Web page table of contents and complete texts of accessed magazines.
