Strategic Line III: Developing fish culture technologies
|
|
|
|
Marine fish culture in Mexico is still in a developing
stage because there are no culture technologies yet. Two critical stages in marine
fish culture are reproduction and nutrition during larval stage.
Research emphasis has been on reproductive
physiology and larval culture of three marine fish: Leopard grouper (Mycteroperca rosacea), Yellow snapper (Lutjanus argentiventris), and North
Pacific yellowtail (Seriola lalandi).
Besides, works have been performed on optimizing Leopard grouper juveniles for
experimental fattening.
With respect to pathology topics, we have studied the effect of the bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila on two initial
life periods of Leopard grouper (embryo and juvenile). | |
