Project: Hydrodynamic study and coastal modeling
|
|
The interruption of sediment contribution by
rainfall drainage watersheds (dams or river bed diversions) or by changes in
frequency and magnitude of tropical rain modifies the natural beach forming pattern
along the coastal area.
Other factors that interrupt the natural pattern of sediment transport and
promotes beach loss are the construction of coastal
infrastructure, including the same coastal infrastructure by unforeseen
erosive processes.
This research implies hydrodynamic studies and
coastal modeling, performing the analysis of the different dynamic agents that
have a bearing on the coast (wind, swell, tides, currents), which will allow to
establish the sedimentary hydrodynamics and transport, as well as the basic
information to perform modeling to predict coastal changes at
short, medium, and long term, both under natural and induced conditions.
