Project: Current and potential use of biotic resources

Principal Researcher: Dr. Gustavo Alberto Arnaud Franco

In general, biotic natural resources are used consumptively or non-consumptively. Its use may be regional, national, or global, where management is included in the modality of wildlife conservation units, officially titled UMAs (Wildlife Conservation, Management and Sustainable Utilization Units).

A bad management of economically relevant species can entail their extinction, and with it, negative effects in local or regional economy can be produced. Basic and applied knowledge of biotic resources is required for a rational management.

The objectives of this project include knowing the use of biotic resources that are currently made at state, regional, and national level, studying the potential possibilities of the resources in different productive areas, promoting normalizing the ways of using natural resources, and linking the results of the investigations to the needs of land owners where the resources are used or where they can potentially be used.
